As the elephant walked through the forest, he came across a monkey swinging from tree to tree. The elephant, eager to make a new friend, asked,
“Hello, monkey. Will you be my friend?”
The monkey looked at him and said,
“You are too big to swing on trees like me, so I cannot be your friend.”
The elephant felt a little sad but continued his journey. Next, he met a rabbit hopping along the forest floor. The elephant asked,
“Will you be my friend?”
The rabbit shook his head and replied,
“You are too big to fit inside my burrow, so I cannot be your friend.”
The elephant’s heart grew heavier, but he didn’t give up. He then saw a frog sitting on a lily pad. He asked,
“Will you be my friend?”
The frog, looking up, said,
“You are too heavy to hop and play with me, so I cannot be your friend.”
Feeling very lonely, the elephant continued to walk through the forest. He wondered why no one would be his friend. That’s when he noticed a sudden movement in the forest. All the animals were running away in fear.
The elephant stopped a bear and asked,
“What’s happening?”
The bear replied,
“A tiger is attacking us all! He’s hunting us one by one.”
Without hesitation, the elephant decided to help. He rushed to the tiger and said,
“Leave my friends alone!”
The tiger laughed and said,
“You can’t stop me!”
But the elephant was not afraid. With a loud trumpet, he charged at the tiger, scaring him away. The tiger, frightened by the brave elephant, ran off and never returned.
The other animals cheered and gathered around the elephant.
“You may be big,” said the monkey, “but you are kind and brave. You are our true friend.”
From that day on, the elephant had many friends, and they all lived happily together in the forest. The elephant had learned that true friendship is not about being the same or fitting into every group. It’s about kindness, bravery, and helping others when they need it most.
