Every evening at 6 PM…
he came back to the same place.
In a busy town lived a man named Ramesh
and his brown dog, Bruno.
Bruno followed Ramesh everywhere.
To the shop.
To the park.
To the railway station.
Every evening, Ramesh waited for the train
that took him to work in the next town.
Bruno always sat beside him.
One day, Ramesh kissed Bruno’s head
and boarded the train.
“I’ll be back by evening,” he said.
But Ramesh never came back.
There was an accident.
The news spread across the town.
But Bruno did not understand death.
The next evening, at 6 PM,
he came to the station.
He sat near the same bench.
He waited.
The train arrived.
People got down.
Ramesh was not there.
Bruno waited again the next day.
And the next.
Days turned into weeks.
Weeks into months.
People tried to take Bruno home.
He ran back to the station.
One old tea seller gave him food every day.
“He is waiting for someone who will never return,”
he whispered sadly.
Years passed.
Bruno grew old.
One cold evening, he lay down near the same bench.
He looked at the railway tracks.
And closed his eyes forever.
The tea seller cried.
“He died waiting for love.”
