High in the Himalayas,
where silence spoke louder than words,
Lord Shiva sat in deep meditation.
Below the mountains lived a man named Keshav.
Keshav was hardworking and sincere,
but his heart was always restless.
He feared loss.
Loss of wealth.
Loss of status.
Loss of people.
The more he held on,
the more anxious he became.
One day, overwhelmed by fear,
Keshav climbed the mountains to seek guidance.
When he reached Lord Shiva,
he fell at His feet.
“Lord,” Keshav said,
“I do everything right, yet I am never at peace.
I am always afraid of losing what I have.”
Lord Shiva opened His eyes calmly.
“Walk with me,” He said.
They reached a narrow mountain path.
Lord Shiva picked up a small stone and placed it in Keshav’s hand.
“Hold this tightly,” Lord Shiva said.
Keshav closed his fist.
Moments passed.
His hand began to ache.
“Hold it tighter,” Lord Shiva said.
Pain spread through Keshav’s arm.
“Now tell me,” Lord Shiva asked softly,
“what are you feeling?”
“Pain,” Keshav replied.
Lord Shiva nodded.
“Open your hand.”
Keshav did.
The pain disappeared instantly.
Lord Shiva spoke gently,
“Attachment is like holding the stone too tightly.
You believe it gives you control,
but it only gives you pain.”
Keshav listened silently.
“You fear losing,” Lord Shiva continued,
“because you believe things belong to you.
But nothing truly does.”
He pointed toward the mountains,
the rivers,
the sky.
“I wear nothing,” Lord Shiva said,
“yet I lack nothing.”
Tears filled Keshav’s eyes.
For the first time,
he understood.
Peace was not found in holding on,
but in trusting life enough to let go.
Keshav bowed deeply.
That day,
he descended the mountain lighter than he had climbed it.
Not because he gained something—
but because he finally released what was weighing him down.
🌟 MORAL OF THE STORY
Attachment creates suffering.
Letting go creates peace.
True freedom begins within.
