Marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati

Long before their divine wedding, Goddess Parvati was born as the daughter of King Himavan, the ruler of the mountains. From childhood, she felt a deep spiritual connection with Lord Shiva.

But Shiva was not an ordinary god.

He lived in deep meditation on Mount Kailash, detached from worldly pleasures, covered in ashes, and lost in spiritual consciousness. After the loss of his first wife Sati, he had withdrawn completely from the world.

Disguised as a sage, he approached Parvati and spoke critically of Shiva — questioning why she wanted to marry a wandering ascetic who owned nothing.

Parvati calmly defended Shiva, saying, “True greatness lies not in appearance, but in spiritual depth.”

At that moment, Shiva revealed his true divine form.

Impressed by her loyalty and purity, he accepted her as his eternal partner.

Their wedding became one of the grandest celestial events. Gods, sages, and divine beings gathered. The mountains echoed with sacred chants. The sky glowed with divine light.

The marriage of Shiva and Parvati symbolized more than love.
