numbers quietly waited on the blackboard.
Most students stared at them
with tired eyes.

“This problem,” she said,

she knew from a local university.
Their reaction surprised her.
“This approach,” one of them said,
“is exactly what we missed.”
They hadn’t failed because
they lacked intelligence.

they assumed too much.
Leo didn’t.
He wasn’t trapped
by how things were “supposed” to be done.
He simply asked,
“Why not try another way?”
When Leo was asked
how he solved it,
he shrugged.
“I didn’t think it was hard,”
he said.
