In an ancient gurukul,
students gathered around Chanakya,
eager to learn wisdom beyond books.
Among them was a student named Aryan.
Aryan was intelligent.
Observant.
And confident.
Whenever he noticed a mistake,
he spoke immediately.
No hesitation.
No pause.
One day,
during a discussion,
another student gave a wrong answer.
Aryan interrupted at once.
“That is incorrect,” he said loudly.
“The correct answer is—”
Chanakya raised his hand.
Aryan stopped.
Chanakya said nothing,
but his eyes rested calmly on Aryan.
Later that day,
Chanakya called Aryan aside.
“You are intelligent,” Chanakya said,
“but intelligence without timing
often creates resistance.”
Aryan looked confused.
“I only speak the truth,” he replied.
Chanakya nodded.
“The truth is powerful,” he said.
“But power used at the wrong moment
can cause harm.”
The next morning,
Chanakya asked Aryan to walk with him.
They reached a field
where farmers were harvesting crops.
Chanakya asked,
“When is the right time to harvest?”
“When the crops are ready,” Aryan answered.
Chanakya smiled.
“And if you harvest early?”
“The crops are wasted.”
“And too late?”
“They rot.”
Chanakya stopped walking.
“Words are like crops,” he said.
“Their value depends on timing.”
Aryan listened carefully.
Chanakya continued,
“Speaking the truth
when the listener is not ready
creates anger, not understanding.”
That evening,
during another lesson,
a student again made a mistake.
Aryan noticed it.
But this time,
he stayed silent.
After the lesson ended,
he gently explained the correction in private.
The student smiled.
“Thank you,” he said.
“I understand now.”
Chanakya watched quietly.
Later, he said to Aryan,
“Today, you chose the right moment.”
Aryan bowed.
That day,
he learned a lesson
no book could teach—
Wisdom is not just what you say,
but when you say it.
