In ancient times,
a man known for his quick temper
came to meet Chanakya.
The man spoke proudly.
“I am strong,” he said.
“I am intelligent.
I can handle any challenge.”
Chanakya looked at him calmly.
“Strength is easy to claim,” Chanakya said.
“But patience must be tested.”
The man smiled confidently.
“I am patient,” he replied.
Chanakya nodded.
“Then come tomorrow morning,” he said.
“Stand outside my hut.
I will speak to you when the time is right.”
The next morning,
the man arrived early.
He stood outside the hut.
Minutes passed.
Then hours.
Chanakya did not come out.
The sun rose higher.
Birds flew by.
People walked past.
The man grew restless.
“Why is he wasting my time?”
he muttered.
At last, Chanakya stepped outside.
“You may go now,” Chanakya said simply.
The man was shocked.
“That’s it?” he asked angrily.
“You didn’t even speak to me!”
Chanakya smiled gently.
“Come again tomorrow,” he said.
The next day,
the man returned.
Again, he waited.
Again, Chanakya said nothing.
This time, the man clenched his fists.
“My time is valuable,” he thought.
“This is disrespect.”
On the third day,
the man arrived with anger already burning inside him.
When Chanakya finally appeared and asked him to leave again,
the man exploded.
“This is an insult!” he shouted.
“You call this wisdom?”
Chanakya looked at him quietly.
“Now,” he said,
“the lesson is complete.”
The man fell silent.
Chanakya spoke calmly,
“If waiting for words makes you angry,
how will you wait for success?”
He continued,
“Patience is not staying calm when nothing happens.
Patience is staying calm
when your ego feels challenged.”
The man lowered his head.
He realized something important.
His strength was loud.
His intelligence was quick.
But his patience was weak.
Chanakya added,
“A person who cannot wait
will always act before thinking.”
The man bowed deeply.
That day,
he learned that patience
is not passive—
It is power under control.
