The Poor Mother Who Gave Her Last Roti – A Moral Story About Sacrifice

She had only one roti left.
And two hungry children.

In a small village lived a poor widow named Kamla
with her two little sons.

They had not eaten since morning.

That evening, Kamla cooked the last dough she had.

She made only one roti.

She broke it into two small pieces
and gave it to her sons.

“I am not hungry,” she lied softly.

She sat near the door, waiting.

Just then, a weak old man knocked.

“Mother, I haven’t eaten for two days,”
he said in a trembling voice.

Kamla looked at her empty plate.

She had no food left.

Her children were still chewing their small pieces.

Her heart began to beat fast.

Then she gently took the roti pieces
from her sons’ hands.

“Give it to uncle,” she whispered.

The children looked confused.

“But we are hungry,” one son said.

Kamla hugged them tightly.

“God will send us food,” she said.

She gave the last roti to the old man.

He ate slowly, tears falling on the bread.

“May your home never stay empty,”
he blessed her.

That night, the family slept hungry.

The next morning, villagers gathered outside her hut.

A rich merchant had heard her story.

He left bags of rice, wheat, and money
at her door.

Kamla fell to her knees and cried.

She finally understood:

Sacrifice never goes unnoticed.
